MicroDanze is an ambitious project of “danced” performances. Conceived by Gigi Cristoforetti, the project stems from an invitation by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani in Reggio Emilia to develop and explore different ways of enjoying dance performance.
Choreographers – national and international – have conceived short pieces (six to eight minutes, to be danced in a minuscule space), which can be watched in succession as if one were visiting a museum. A project that eludes the dynamics of the stage, the distance separating the spectator from the performer, creating a continuum between the onlooker and the watched, soliciting an emotional and aesthetic experience as varied as it is original
Some MicroDances have been the focus of a reenactment process: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at creating an urban version.
The result is a project that creatively wanders through very different contexts – historical centres, industrial areas, residual spaces, symbolic places in cities – defining unusual stages and creating radically new opportunities to meet the public. The leitmotif is research on dance as a form of living, in relation to contemporary artistic practices rooted in the territory.
In Ferrara, the MicroDances route, curated by Lara Guidetti, runs through the spaces of Palazzo Schifanoia, including the inner garden. It starts from the side entrance, passing through the garden, and then rejoins the visitors’ route from the upper rooms and the Salone dei Mesi. The itinerary allows for different experiences of the space including more concrete and essential outdoor green areas, and the historical halls whose works sometimes resonate in the choreographies.

The end is the beginning and the beginning is the end.
A circle, a journey that comes to an end only after returning to its starting point, containing countless roads and suggestions. Punch24 is a circular path where the first and last stages intersect each other but are not coincident phases. It is my research about anything what we can find within a shape, the awareness that every movement, every sound, every glance can be variable and endlessly multipliable. Punch24 is a series of independent scenes, a game of entrances and exits, a back and forth between the two dancers. A set of seemingly disconnected scenes that follow one other, offering the audience the possibility to visualize each time a different performer.
